William "Billy" Wilson was born on January 23, 1949, in Dalzell, South Carolina, to the late Joseph Sr. and Hattie Boone Wilson. On Friday, August 1, 2025, at McLeod Medical Center in Florence, SC, he peacefully transitioned to his eternal home
At a young age, Billy joined Mt.
Olive AME Church in Woodrow, SC, where he developed a devoted relationship with Jesus Christ. He often reminded others, "The Master always has a master plan.
All you have to do is live
Billy was educated in the Lee County Public School system. He worked in the construction industry for many years and later served as a foreman with Rummage in Monroe, North Carolina. A true lover of baseball, Billy was a standout pitcher for the Blanding Sluggers under the management of Charlie Windham. His passion for baseball and Westerns earned him affectionate nicknames such as "Horse," "Peter," and
"Cartwright."
In December 1981, Billy was united in holy matrimony to the late Emma Porter Wilson. He was also preceded in death by two brothers,
Joseph Wilson Jr. and George
Wilson, along with several beloved in-laws.
