On July 14, 1972, in Paterson, New Jersey, God gave Dea. Clarence Hampton, Sr and Rev. Hattie Hampton a bundle of Joy and love, a baby girl they named Nechanda Marie Hampton.
Nechanda graduated from Eastside High School and Virginia State College where she majored in Physiology.
Nechanda received her early religious training at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Patterson, NJ under the leadership of Rev. JJ Robinson. Upon relocating to Camden, SC, Nechanda joined Hyco Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Solomon Jackson, Jr. Nechanda worked with and taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, worked on the Usher Ministry and served as Church Clerk.
Nechanda worked at Kershaw County Medical Center as a Receptionist and as a Cashier at Harris Teeter.
Rejoicing in her memory but mourning her loss are her parents, Dea. Clarence and Rev. Hattie (“Honey” as she called her mom) Hampton, Sr; her son, Calvin Jaliek Hampton; her brother, Clarence Hampton, Jr.; niece, Alia Shantel Hampton; aunts, Martha Rutherford, Earlene Frierson, Joann (Leander) Dunham, Dorothy Rutherford, Daisey Rutherford, Dorothy (Willie) Taylor, Marie McCormick, Martha Cassell, Bessie (Danny) Reynolds, Gerena (Tony) Brown, Kathy Portee, and Sidney Portee; Uncles, Willie Rutherford and Greg Portee; God Parents, Dorothy & Willie Taylor and John & Barbara Rich; a host of cousins, other relatives and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
