Mrs. Mary Louise Lumpkin, affectionately known as "Whizzie", was born in Kershaw county on October 13, 1935 to the late Mary Maggie Nelson and the late Jim Harris.
Louise received her education at Fairfield county schools in Winnsboro, SC. Following high school, she relocated to New York city. It was in New York that she would meet and marry her husband, James Robert Lumpkin, on January 23, 1960. They were married for over 40 years until his departure on July 5, 2003.
Upon her return to South Carolina in 1974, here she worked at South Carolina Department of Mental Health food services. After retiring, she enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and friends, putting puzzles together and she loved sitting on her front porch, sipping a cold beer with family and friends.
Those who remain to cherish her memories are her loving daughters (and nieces) Mary Contreras, Lisa R. Kina, Melissa Nelson; step-sons, James R. McMullin and Roger McMullin; grandson, Sean Nelson; granddaughter, Mia Nelson; great grandsons, Sean Nelson, Jr, Tevon and Amir; great granddaughters, Myra, Syrai, Yasmine, and Yabra; sisters, Anna Moore and Betty Taylor; brother, James Nelson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
