Mary Dunham King, daughter of the late George Dunham and Lucinda Johnson Dunham, was born August 5, 1935. She gained her wings on August 23, 2022.
Mary was loved by all that knew her. Her joy was her family. She was known for feeding everyone in the community. Mary was the first
African American woman to become employed at Kendall in Bethune, South Carolina. She was a licensed and professional cosmetologist in her early years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter King; a son, Michael T. King Sr; a daughter, Bessie Mae King Hagins; a granddaughter, Mary Louise McCaskill; and siblings, Hover Lee Dunham, Robert Dunhan, George A. Dunham, Ethel Beatrice Dunham Dixon, Johnny Dunham, Inez Manigault, and Marilyn Dunham Dubose.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Debora Johnson (Carlton) of Dallas, Georgia, Kathy McCaskill of Bethune, South Carolina, and George King of Bethune, South Carolina; brother, Leander Dunham (Joan) of Bethune, South Carolina;13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
