Loretta Long

January 16, 1963 — January 11, 2019

Loretta Long, affectionately known as “Rexy” of Ridgeway, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family and love ones on January 11, 2019. She was born January 16, 1963 in Camden, South Carolina to the late James L. “Bubba” Jones and Helen Anderson.
Loretta completed her education in the public schools of Kershaw County. She was a school bus driver and 1981 graduate of North Central High School. Loretta continued her education at Southern Technical College majoring in business administration.
Loretta at an early age, inspired by her love of Christ, joined White Oak Baptist Church in Camden, South Carolina. She later met and married her husband of 28 years, Henry Long, and became a member of White Oak Baptist Church No. 2 in Ridgeway, South Carolina. Loretta served as Deaconess, President of the Missionary and served on the usher board for many years. Over the years, Loretta continued to attend both churches until her health declined.
Loretta was employed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 29 years. Working in different capacities, she met many people and developed many friendships along the way. Many of her co-workers were a true inspiration to her. She never met a stranger and you could always expect to be greeted with that big winning smile and calm spirit. During her illness she never complained, and those characteristics never changed. She would always say, "I’m doing okay today."
Loretta leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband, Henry Long, her beautiful daughters, Laken B. Long and Kirsten A. Long; siblings Barbara Jean Thompson of Camden, South Carolina, Alana Howard of New Jersey, Nathan T. Anderson of Georgia, Ronnie Truesdale of Chicago, Illinois, James C. Jones and Lois Anderson of Camden, South Carolina, Carol (Anthony) Todaro of Bessemer City, North Carolina, Floyd and Grover Drakeford of Camden, South Carolina, Barbara (Kenneth) Pressley of Charlotte, North Carolina, Norman Drakeford of Tennessee; godsons Jonathan and Tyler Hampton of Camden, South Carolina; her special aunts, Zellia Mae Sumpter, Ruby Mae Jones, and Clara “Dollbaby” Jones; a special cousin Cora “Tab” Nelson; She also leaves behind a special sister-in-law who she considered a sister, Kathy Long Belton and a host of aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Louise Jones (Mama), sisters Carolyn Fowler and Marie Anderson, and aunt Carrissa Jones.
