On Sunday evening, August 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, Larry Darnell "Donny" White took his final breath in this earthly world and went home to rest with the Lord.
Donny was born on a cold Tuesday, February 2, 1960, to the late Deacon Caleb Joshua White and the late Sister Lassiree Mozelle White.
After graduating from Lugoff-Elgin High School, Donny joined the United States Army, where he served for several years as an airborne infantry soldier with the 82nd Airborne Division. He later spent many years living and working in the Columbia area while attending business classes at Midlands Technical College. This helped prepare him to own and operate his business, Grite Glass, which proudly served the Columbia community for many years.
Beyond his work, Donny had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, and he took great pride in raising hound dogs. He was a talented handyman who could repair almost anything and build small structures. Donny generously shared his skills and knowledge with family and friends. In recent years, this sharing led to a special bond with his niece, Bretina, whom he taught to garden, care for chickens, and repair small lawn equipment. He believed in passing down knowledge and preserving the traditions and wisdom of earlier generations.
Donny leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Kenneth C. White and Brenda Y. White of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Otilya White Outten of Lugoff, South Carolina; and Charlester C. White of Atlanta, Georgia; his nieces, Kenitha C. White of Las Vegas, Nevada and Bretina L. Outten of Lugoff, SC; his nephew, Joshua G. Taylor of Fayetteville, NC; great-niece Illiana Perez, of Las Vegas, Nevada and a host of beloved cousins, neighbors, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Donny was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Earl White, as well as several close cousins and friends.
