Jerry Miller

April 7, 1946 — August 24, 2023

“Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.” Isaiah 57:2

Jerry Miller entered this world on April 7, 1946, at Cumberland Hospital in Brooklyn to the late Mary Lee Moses and the late William Miller.

Jerry attended Kirkland School in Camden, South Carolina He worked at Duke Power Electrical Company for 45 years, where he was known for his admirable work ethic and perfect attendance. The Duke Power Electrical Company honored him at a luncheon with an award for being a safe driver who never had an accident.

Jerry was compassionate and loved to laugh which was definitely a trait passed down from his mother. Jerry was known for many things that made him a great guy. Some things that stood out about him were he was a good pool player and card player. He was a good cook and was famous for his fried chicken and cornbread. Jerry loved nice clothes and loved looking good in them. He was known to shop at Lord and Taylor’s every time he visited New York. And to make sure he was dressed sharply, he ironed creases in his clothes so sharp that they could cut you.

Jerry loved to come visit his mom in Brooklyn, New York. He would never miss the opportunity to visit with her every year. His routine was always the same. He would come home to Brooklyn every September. Jerry would travel with his aunts, the late Catherine Miller, Eva Mae Moses, and a special cousin who was also like a big sister to him, Betsy McLeod. They always went down to Greenville, South Carolina for the FBH Church Convention. Jerry along with a host of other cousins would drive the aunts to the convention. Jerry always ventured to New York City with them on their way home. Jerry would stay for a couple of weeks before returning to “Up Da Country” as we affectionately called it.

When Jerry’s mom, Mary Lee, and her sisters passed away, he would still travel to Brooklyn, New York, and stay with his cousin Betsy McLeod, his brother Bruce, and his sister Evelyn. Everyone in their neighborhoods knew him well and would ask for Jerry every year.

We understand that life and death are in the power of God's hands. On Thursday, August 24, 2023, God saw fit for Jerry to receive his rest from this life and his labor on Earth and to enter his rest in Heaven.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Mary Lee Moses, his father William Miller, and his brother Randy Carl Crichlow.

Jerry leaves to mourn and cherish his memory; brothers; Bruce W. Moses and Grantley E. Crichlow; sisters Patricia Y. Crichlow and Evelyn J. Crichlow-Clark; two nephews Tyshawn T. Crichlow (Tiana) and Ameer K. Clark; two nieces Rahkiah F. Clark and Tarai C. Hardy-Crichlow; two dear cousins Betsy McLeod and Della C. Adamson and a host of relatives and friends.
