Fitz Albert Wilson, devoted husband to Aloha, loving father to Claire, Vera, Hugh Fitz Albert, Harold, Raina, and Douglas; affectionately known by close friends and family as Gladell, was born on August 5,1935 to Jane Lewis (Alvaranga) and Hugh Wilson in Clarendon Jamaica, in Santa Mariah parish also known to the residents there as “Corner Top”. As a young man he left to Kingston and got a job as a Talley Clerk on the docks working on the cargo ships for many years. In the late 1960’s he went to America where he met the love of his life, Aloha through family friends and from there made America his home to which he was very proud. He and Aloha settled in Jamaica Queens and had 2 children Raina and Douglas.
Fitz worked in several managerial roles during his career. He worked at Berkey Photo Inc and Perma Steele in New York. He excelled at both these companies and was promoted several times. Because of his leadership and commitment to excellence, Berkey Photo placed him in charge of 5 different departments as a Director. After many successful years at Perma Steele and Berkey, Fitz and his family relocated to Camden, South Carolina in 1992. He continued his belief in hard work and excellence at K-Mart where he served as a processing supervisor for many years until his retirement.
The late Willa and Joe Truesdale introduced Fitz to St.Paul Methodist Church where he was a dedicated member of the Chancellor Choir, Methodist Men, Bible Study, and Finance Committee. He was referred to as “Mr.Fitz” by his church family. Fitz was very proud of his children. One of his greatest joys was the love all his children had for the Lord.
He leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy his wife – Aloha; three daughters – Claire, Vera and Raina, three sons - Hugh Fitz Albert, Harold and Douglas; three daughter n laws – Hope (Hugh) Wilson, Mary(Harold) and Tosha (Douglas) Wilson; one son in law-Gerald Francis (Vera); three brothers-Leopold (Charlie) Alvaranga, Earl Wilson and Linval Wilson; one “sister” cousin-Velma Samuels, seven grandchildren-Jordan Wilson, Shawn Wilson, Lisa Francis, Charles Francis, Richard Francis, Iyannah Wilson, Shawna Wilson, and Janiyah Wilson; one great grand child-Zion, a host of cherised cousins, friends, nieces, nephews, and his beloved St. Paul Methodist Church Family. May he Rest In Peace and his memory live on in all of us.
