Charles Paul Murphy

Charles Paul Murphy passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, at the age of 72. He was born on May 29, 1953, in Camden, South Carolina to the late Jerry and Lelia Thomas Murphy.

Affectionately known as Paul, he lived a life that was defined by service, dedication, and a deep commitment to family and community. He was educated by the Kershaw County public school system. Upon graduation Paul relocated to Brooklyn, New York where he enlisted in the United States Army. He retired from the Army after 18 years of service. Upon his returning home to South Carolina, he reinstated his membership to St. Matthew Baptist Church where he served on the usher board and as a member of the male choir. Paul later transitioned into the manufacturing field and worked for Dupont’s May Plant under Standard Warehouse for approximately 26 years.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Paul is survived by three sisters, Geraldine Ruffin of Patterson, New Jersey, Edith (Thomas) Montgomery, and Lelia (Michael) Brown both of Lugoff, South Carolina; three brothers, Ronnie Thomas Murphy of Lugoff, South Carolina, Cleveland Murphy of Burlington, North Carolina, and Richard (Mae Helen) Murphy of Camden, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
