Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 11 am at Camden First UMC, 704 W. Dekalb Street and will be officiated by Rev. Loman Jones, pastor of Red Hill Baptist Church in Cassatt. Public viewing will take place at the start of the funeral. There will be no viewing at the funeral home and there will not be a viewing one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Antwan Lavon “Shady” Washington son of Carrie Washington and Grover Drakeford was born July 22, 1986, in Camden, SC and departed this life on June 19, 2025, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC. In his final hours he was surrounded by his family.
Antwan was an awesome electrician and a hard worker. Shady was known to many for his great sense of humor and that big smile. He was a big Kobe Bryant and Lakers fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, his grandmother Inez “his heart”, his nephews and niece, and riding his dirt bike.
Antwan is preceded in death by his son, Jah’ceon Amir Washington; maternal grandfather, Wallace E. Washington; paternal grandfather, Bennie Drakeford.
Antwan leaves to cherish his memories, his parents Carrie Washington and Grover Drakeford; his children, Zeniyah Marie Washington, and Antwan Lavon Washington Jr.; his brothers, Lewis (Veta), Mandrell, and Santaza; his maternal grandmother “his heart” Inez Washington; paternal grandmother, Mary Drakeford; nephews and niece, Nahshon, Lewis Jr., Leana, and Wallace; the mother of his children, Janara Hollis; aunts and uncles; Michelle Hernandez, Kinyatta (Clifton) Cooke, Warren Washington, Tony Washington, Denise Drakeford, Maryann Drakeford, Lottie Drakeford, Shirley Drakeford, Dana Drakeford, Samantha Drakeford, Jean Drakeford, and Ken Drakeford; a special friend, Joanny Bolick; first cousins raised up like brothers, Wayne, and Markee Patterson; Goddaughter, Kamille Jackson; a special great uncle Paul Washington. Antwan is also survived by a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He will be missed so much.
