MRS. ALBERTA BLANDING BENNETT entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 20, 2026, at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born January 2, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Beauregard Sr. and Carrie Blanding. She was married to the late Willie Joseph Bennett, Sr. until his death in 1971.

Alberta received her education in the Kershaw County public school system. She was a domesticated worker, worked for the Kershaw County School system, housekeeping at the Holiday Inn, in Lugoff, South Carolina.

Alberta began her Christian journey at Mt. Prospect United Methodist Church of Lugoff, South Carolina. After marriage, she moved her membership to High Hill Baptist Church of Lugoff, South Carolina, where she became the oldest mother of the church until her death. Alberta opened her home to a multitude of children in her community because she loved taking care of children. In her free time, Alberta loved gardening, bowling, word search, jigsaw puzzles, canning, and cooking for the community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Joseph Bennett Sr.; her parents, Beauregard Sr. and Carrie Blanding; one son, Larry Leroy Blanding; two grandchildren and one great grandchild; three brothers, Beauregard, Alexander, and Malaou Blanding; three sisters, Byzillar Howell, Simmlean Jones, and Elizabeth Jones. Two days after her passing, her only surviving sister, Flossie Ruth Williams, passed away.

Alberta leaves to cherish her fond memories: her children, Willene Bennett of the home, Lizzie Mae Hayes of Camden, South Carolina, Mattie Ruth Williams of Charlotte, North Carolina, Leslie Ralph (Kesha) Blanding of Charlotte, North Carolina, Willie Joseph, Jr. (Nora) Bennett, and Charles Edward (Barbara) Bennett, both of Lugoff, South Carolina and Anthony Blanding (La-tice) Bennett, Sr. of Elgin, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Eunice Samuel of Lugoff, South Carolina and Eartha (Will) White of White Plains, New York; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, and one greatgreat-grandchild which is the fifth generation, Dai'Drian Antrell Bennett; a host of nieces, nephews cousins and many friends.

Alberta raised three additional children in her home: Glenda Lawson, Thomas Cantey, Jr. and Rosa Seawright.
