Sidney Jackson

June 22, 1932 — April 4, 2016

Sidney Jackson Jr. was born June 22, 1932 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the third child born to Sidney and Ethel Jackson. Sidney departed this life on Monday, April 4, 2016 in Cassatt, South Carolina at the age of 83. He accepted Christ at an early age while attending Hyco Baptist Church in Cassatt, South Carolina. He knew the Lord and loved the Lord. Sidney supported his church with his presence, finance and prayers. He was educated in the public school system of Kershaw County and attended Booker T. Washington High School in Columbia, South Carolina. Sidney enjoyed building furniture, fishing, reading, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and driving his 1978 Ford truck. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved interacting with others he came in contact with. He was a people's person. He worked at Kershaw County on Aging for many years assisting with programs and services to better the life of other seniors. Sidney enjoyed his work with the Council that led him to further his knowledge and understanding by enrolling in an home study program in the School of Gerontology sponsored by Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Sidney’s ambition and entrepreneur spirit led him to own a successful janitorial business and record shop both located in Columbia, South Carolina. He helped maintained the security of the Nation during a critical time in its history with a devotion to duty and a spirit of sacrifice in keeping with the proud tradition of the military service, while serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Sidney was honorably discharged in December, 1954. Those left to cherish his fond memories grieve his passing and celebrate his home going are: his loving wife of 34 years, Deloris Jackson of Cassatt, South Carolina; daughters, Susan Vernon of Tracey, California, Danielle Young of Bridgeport, Connecticut and Sidney K. Jackson of Cassatt, South Carolina; sons, Donald Jackson, Darryl Jackson (Jacquine), and Michael Jackson all of Bridgeport, Connecticut and James Young, Dallas Texas; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Rosa May Mixon of Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania; three brothers-in-law, Bishop Ronnie Brayboy (Mildred) of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Clayton Brayboy (Annie) and Graylon Brayboy (Faye) both of Florence, South Carolina; three, sisters-in-law, Ann King (Willie) of Florence, South Carolina, Rose Choice and Judy Brayboy both of Bridgeport, Connecticut and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
