Richmond Bust Crim

Mr. Richmond "Bust" Crim entered into eternal rest at Springdale Healthcare Center on Sunday, October 18, 2015 in Camden, South Carolina.
He was the eldest son of the late Mr. George Crim, Sr. and the late Mrs. Cornelia Osborne Crim.  Richmond grew up in the Rembert area of Sumter County.  Richmond was baptized at an early age at Good Hope United Methodist Church in Boykin, South Carolina.  He supported his church with his presence, finance and prayers.  Richmond attended the Sumter County schools and worked on their farm until he left for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He helped maintained the security of the Nation during a critical time in its history with a devotion to duty and a spirit of sacrifice in keeping with the proud tradition of the military service while serving in the United States Army during World War II.  Decorations received were Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. His military occupational specialty was a rifleman.  He traveled extensively throughout Italy with the 370th Infantry Regiment 92nd Division (a part of the Black Buffalo Soldiers) during the war.  Richmond entered into the military in August, 1942 and separated in November, 1945 earning the rank of Private First Class (PFC).
After an honorable discharge from the United States Army, he relocated to Philadelphia and married his childhood sweetheart, Sallie Bradford.  He was employed at Bunting and Glider Company for 35 years until they closed and he continued his employment with the Hope Company until retirement.
Richmond, affectionately called "Bust", joined Trinity United Methodist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He served faithfully in many ministries to include a Trustee, the Male and Gospel choirs, as a Finance Chairperson, Church Building Overseer and many more.  His faithfulness continued on when Trinity United Methodist Church merged and became Trinity Chelten United Methodist Church.
God blessed "Bust" and Sallie with more than sixty years five wonderful years together as they traveled around the world and entertained family and friends.  His favorite past time was watching baseball, Seinfeld, Jeopardy and Meet the Press while sipping on a cold glass of milk.  Also he was in a bowling league in earlier years.  He was a loving, faithful husband, uncle, mentor and a father figure to many people.  Buster will be remembered as a person who loved to engage in long conversations sharing his wisdom to anyone needing good advice and sharing his life stories about challenges he faced and overcame in life.  He was an intelligent, kind and spiritual man who would help anyone who needed help and a life long friend to many.

Upon retiring, Richmond moved back home in Rembert to enjoy the presence of his sister, Lillie Mae, other family members and friends.  He enjoyed talking to all people about his tour of military duty and life experiences.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by a sister, Mrs. Lillie Mae Edwards and a brother, Mr. Oliver Crim.

Those left to cherish his fond memory, grieve his passing and celebrate his home going are: a nephew, Mr. Robert (Doretha) Edwards of Charlotte, North Carolina; a dedicated and loving niece, Ms. June Bourne of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a caring niece-in-law, Mrs. Tessie (the late George Oliver) Crim of Rembert, South Carolina and other loving cousins and friends.
