Lois Edna Wood-Mickle

July 27, 1927 — July 22, 2015

Lois Edna (Wood) Mickle was born July 27, 1927, in Lugoff, South Carolina. Affectionately known as “BO”, she was born to the late Ruben and Mattie Wood. Lois moved to New York City in the 1960’s and resided there until her health began to fail. In April, she was relocated to South Carolina so she could be closer to her children and family. Those who loved her so dearly were able to nurture her health with tender love and care.
Lois worked for Mead Paper Company in Long Island, New York for over twenty-five years. She retired in 1992. she enjoyed talking with her sister Mabel three to four times a day. If you tried to call her and couldn’t get her you knew who she was talking with. They did almost everything together; going shopping together and to their doctor appointments together. Lois was always helping her neighbors with whatever they needed. She was a true fan of the New York Mets and the New York Yankees. Derk Jeter was one of her favorite players.
Left to cherish her precious memories are: two daughters, Bernice (Alphonso) Fletcher of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Roberta (Andre) Harmon of Columbia, South Carolina; two sons, Roy (Monica) Mickle and Ellis Mickle both of Elgin, South Carolina; two sisters, Mabel Gra-ham of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Gladys Mickle of Ridgeway, South Carolina,; one brother, Ernest (Jack) Wood of Lugoff, South Carolina; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grand children, and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Lois was preceded in death by her son, Willie Mickle, Jr.; a sister, Ber-tha Counts; two brothers, Theodore and Roscoe Wood; and a grandson, Laurence Marshall Mickle.
We are forever grateful to the entire Medical and Business Staff; especially Unit One, at the White Oak Nursing Home of Rock Hill, South Carolina. They provided the highest quality of professionalism and healthcare to our mother. We would also like to thank the entire staff of Hospice and Community Care of Rock Hill, South Carolina for the compassionate care they provided for our mother and the Mickle Family.
