Kaaren Ellen Hammond

Kaaren Ellen Hammond was born April 29, 1966 to the late George Hammond and Priscilla Reid Hammond in Washington, DC. Kaaren went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 3:00 pm. Kaaren lived an exemplary life and was loved by many. She spent her formative years in the Public Schools in Camden, South Carolina, Kershaw County and graduated from Camden, High School in 1984. During her time at Camden High School, Kaaren was active in many organizations. She participated in Jr. ROTC, was selected as Debutante Queen by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. One of her greatest accomplishments was being selected as Homecoming Queen at Camden, High School in 1984. Kaaren attended and graduated from Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a concentration in Pre-Law. While attending Columbia College, Kaaren sang on the Columbia College Gospel Choir, participated in the African-American History Club and ran for various class offices. Kaaren loved life! She was a tenacious and industrious business owner. She along with her mother, Priscilla Hammond managed and operated Kaapri Enterprises, which they started in 1992. Kaapri Enterprises’ motto, “Specialized Services with Professional excellence.” Their business enabled them to touch many lives by improving the socio-economic status of residents of Public Housing Authorities and creating business venues that exuded professionalism and elegance. Kaaren loved with all of her heart, her Mother, Priscilla Reid Hammond and adored her brother Victor Reid. She gave back in many ways in her lifetime. Every year, Kaaren would serve food to homeless citizens at the local shelter and prepared many gift baskets for residents of the Housing Authority in Lake City, South Carolina. She leaves to cherish her memory, her amazing Mother, Priscilla Reid Hammond, her handsome and doting brother, Victor Reid, a dedicated and loving Godmother, Betty Nelson and a host of very close Cousins, Relatives and Special Friends, which are much too numerous to name. Again, a human spirit has taken flight at the call of the Heavenly Father to the mansion prepared for her from the foundation of the earth by an all wise, loving, all knowing and just God.
