Today we pause and salute the life and legacy of our loved one who has fought the good fight of faith with dignity and grace. Every life that he touched and every heart that he encountered will forever remember him. He gave of himself unselfishly for the service of others and in the spirit of love. Early Friday morning, March 13, 2020, Mr. Jimmie Robinson transitioned peacefully into his eternal rest.

Jim Robinson was born on April 17, 1944 in Camden, SC to the late Thomas McClendon and Mary Robinson. He was baptized and received his early religious training at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Camden, SC. He attended Knights Hill School and graduated from Jackson High School. He furthered his education at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC. Jim later moved to Norwalk, CT where he spent many precious years with his parents and siblings.

In 1976, he relocated to Camden, SC where he was employed with the Kershaw County Sheriff's Department under the leadership of the late sheriff Hector DeBruhl. After serving a few years, he was promoted to Investigator where he served and protected the citizens of Kershaw County. He touched many lives and helped anyone he came into contact with. He was well respected and admired by all. Jim continued to serve by working with the South Carolina Department of Corrections.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Virginia Sandford and Cynthia McClendon and one brother, Elly McClendon.

Those left to cherish precious memories include his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Sarah A. Robinson; two sons, James (Phebie) Robinson and David (Peggy) Ellerby both of Camden, SC; daughter, Brittany Robinson of Wilmington, NC; five grandchildren; three brothers, John (Celia) Robinson of Camden, SC, Forrest McClendon of PA and Thomas (Sybil) McClendon of New Britain, CT; eleven sisters, Bessie (George) Oliver, Bertha (Terry) Darden, Barbara (Will) Williams, Mary (Ronald) Williams, Ethel Williams, Esther Williams, Thomasina McClendon and Patricia (Lewis) Carter, all of Norwalk, CT, Diane (Wayne) O'Brien of Danbury, CT, Spring (James) Mitchell of Brooklyn, NY and Sylvia McClendon of New Britain, CT; three uncles, William (Cathy) Anderson, Paul (Beverly) Anderson and Peter (Denise) Anderson; three aunts, Emma Jean Robinson, Rebecca Robinson and Dr. Rita Robinson; two brother-in-laws, David McClendon, Jr and Wally Boyd; two sister-in-laws, Helen McKenney and Wanda Thompson; a devoted and loving nephew, Derek (Rachel) Robinson; special sisters, Sabrina (Marcus) Bennett, Mary (Lloyd) Grecia, Connie D. Williams and Rebecca (Sam) James; Special friends, Edgar Williams and Reggie Perry; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
