James Travis McDonald

November 3, 1928 — October 23, 2017

James Travis McDonald was born on November 3, 1928 to the late Joseph and Mary McDonald. He received his early education in the public schools of Kershaw County. Later, his education was continued during his military service in the United States Air Force. Upon his retirement in 1972, after being deployed to various countries, including Vietnam and his favorite country, Morocco; Mr. McDonald and his wife, Dorothy Bracey McDonald returned to his childhood home in Bethune. Upon their return, he worked for Western Auto and the Kershaw County School District. They both joined and became active members of the Sandy Level Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon until he became ill. He was also affiliated with the Masons and Shriners. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as his hobbies. Left to cherish his memories are his sister, Mrs. Alma Hogan of Lugoff, SC; his brother, Ernest McDonald of Columbia, SC; sister-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Jackson; brother-in-law, Mr. Isaac Bracey. He held in high regards his friend and neighbor, Mr. Ron Turner. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
