Glen Robert Joy (who was affectionately known as Crow to friends) peacefully transitioned from this life on May 06,2019. Glen was born March 02, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Odessa Mae Pettiford Joy and Johnnie Joy Sr.Glen received his education from the Baltimore City Public School System. He graduated from Baltimore City College where he excelled in academics and was also on the varsity basketball team. Glen went on to attend Morgan State University.Glen proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. After returning home from the war; Glen decided he wanted to give back so he became a substitute teacher for a short time in the Baltimore City Public School System. During this time he met, fell in love with and married the love of his life Deborah P. Joy.He ultimately find his niche as a Benefit Authorizer for the United States Federal Government in the Social Security Administration Division. Where he would stay until his early retirement in 2004.Glen enjoyed spending time with his close friends and family.He relished the time he spent with his “baby girl” (daughter) and “ his #1 guy (grandson) . They would go to see the Baltimore Orioles play and hang out at the Baltimore Inner Harbor visiting the Port Discovery and the National Aquarium. Glen and his #1 guy took annual trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where numerous memories were made.Glen also enjoyed cycling as a great source of exercise, in his earlier years you could also find him playing a competitive game of full court basketball with friends at a nearby basketball court or recreation center. Gardening became one of his favorite ways to pass the time in South Carolina.Preceding him in death were his brothers: Johnnie Joy, Melvin Theodore Joy and Dennis Jerome JoyGlen is survived by his daughter Odette K Robinson, his son in law: Bruce J Robinson, his grandson: Jason Alan Fisher Jr., his niece : Malkya S. Joy, his nephew: Barron E Joy, his great niece: Alana S.Joy, his great nephews : Jaiquan E. Joy, Elisha M. Mincey- Joy, Karron Joy and Reece Joy. And a host of cousins,other relatives and friends.
