George E. Williams

George E Williams was born in Sumter County on July 12th 1937 to George and Annie Williams (deceased) and departed his Earthly life early Sunday morning May 21st 2017 at Providence Medical Hospital Columbia South Carolina. George was reared in a Christian Home and graduated from Jackson High School class of 1956. After graduation George relocated to New Jersey where he attended Announcer Training Studios of New York and received his certificate for FCC first class license preparation in 1971 and worked part-time as a local radio announcer in New Jersey. George became a member of Mt. Olive Baptist church in Hackensack NJ. George's career begin in the transportation industry where he served over 20 years retiring from New Jersey Transit in 1988. George was Past Master who faithfully served Shiloh lodge #53 from 1985-1986. He was a member of the following: Palestine Commandery #13, Knights Temples, Joshua Council #11, H.R.A.M. , Sardonias Consistory #41 A.A.S.R., Golconda Temple #24, A.E.A.O.N.M.S. (PHA), and Sanders Stoney Post #203. In 1986 George married his love and companion Laura and relocated to South Carolina where he received his realtors licenses and worked for Coldwell Bankers until his health began to decline. George was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Camden South Carolina where he became an ordained deacon in 1992. Later in life he changed his membership to Grant Hill Baptist church where he served faithfully until his health prevented him from carrying out his duties. He lives to cherish his memory, Laura his wife of 31 years, his blended family Gregory, Valerie, Kim (John) and James Clark. One brother Johnny (Rose) , one sister Hattie, sister in law Marie, a host of grand and great grand children along with nieces and nephews. George was preceded in Death by one brother James and one sister Dolores.
