Ellen McCarley

Mrs. Ellen Clara McCarley, age 93, went to be with the Lord on Friday September 16, 2022. She was born December 09, 1928, in Lake Wales, Fl, to the late George and Mabel Duren. Do to the untimely passing of her parents at a young age, Ellen was raised by her older siblings whom she loved and adored. After the completion of school, Ellen relocated to Connecticut where she raised her four children and worked until her retirement.

In 1981 she married the late Macco McCarely and relocated to South Carolina.

Ellen was a member of Edwards Chapel AME Zion Church, where she served as a missionary, deaconess and choir member. Ellen enjoyed cooking, crafts, visiting family and friends, and spending time with her church family.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Macco McCarley; three sisters, Mabel Bush, Mary Worthington and Thelma Foreman; two brothers, George Duren and James Duren; two sons, Fielden Ritchie Jr, and Kenneth Ritchie Sr.; her daughter, Ruth Ellen Ritchie Craig.

Ellen is survived by her sister: Jeanette Brewington of Florida, her son Robert Clayton of Connecticut, daughter -in- law Jennie Ritchie of South Carolina, seven grandchildren, Kevin Ritchie of Florida, Anissa Craig of California, Kenneth Ritchie Jr. of North Carolina, Lance Ritchie of Virginia, Jennifer Jackson of South Carolina, Lauran Blyther of Maryland and Sydney Ritchie of South Carolina. Seventeen great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
