Ella "Hattie" Bracy

November 27, 1942 — April 9, 2020

Generous, soft- spoken and patient could best describe her. For Ella Jean Bracy, affectionately known as Hattie' was more than just a mom.
Born to the late James Bracey and Emma Missouri Bracey on November 27, 1942, "Hattie" was the youngest of four girls and one boy. Hattie enjoyed writing and singing while growing up in South Carolina. She had become a member of The Pine Grove AME Church until her quest for change took her to different places. She would eventually plant her feet in New York City and join the Bethel Temple AME Church where she partook in the choir.
During her time in New York, she had also become the neighborhood childcare Provider, nurturing and educating them while still tending to her own. Til this day She is respected as the neighborhood grandma. Though she had such an infectious smile and an illustrious spirit, her earthly light would dim on the 9th of April, 2020.
Ella Jean has joined her parents, her oldest sister, Dora Williams and Brother Leroy Bracey in death. She, however, is survived by her two Sisters Bertha Jordan and Barbara Holliday of New York City.
She leaves to mourn her Children, Anthony J. Bracy, Sr, Michael Bracy, Sharina Bracy- Bullock, Renee Bracy, Dominic Bracy, Donovan Bracy, Dena Thomas Bracy, and Dajahna Bracy, all from New York; and her Goddaughter Karonda Bridges of Baltimore, Maryland.
In addition, she leaves her grandchildren, Anthony "AJ" Bracy, Jr and Adrianna Bracy of SC, Anthony J. Bracy, Xavier Bracy, Shalonda Bracy, Anne Bracy, Shakera Bracy, Shadrika Bracy, Sadeja Bracy Nixon, Patrick Bracy, Trevina and Precious Johnson, Jacquera Bracy all from New York and Taj Coppage of Baltimore, Maryland. To add, she leaves to mourn three endearing nieces: Joyce Charles of New York, Barbara Morris of Wilmington, NC and Denise Holliday of New York; and one endearing nephew Jimmy Holliday of SC.
