Delores (Robinson) Dudley

February 25, 1943 — June 5, 2016

Delores “Lois” Robinson Dudley was born in Camden, South Carolina on February 25, 1943 to the late Jimmy and Alice Williams Robinson. Delores received her early religious training at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Delores continued her church affiliation at Albright United Methodist Church in Washington, DC until her return to Lugoff.   Delores was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County graduating with honors from Jackson High School in 1961. In the fall of 1961 she attended Claflin University. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She graduated in 1965 Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor of arts degree in English and earned a Master’s degree in curriculum and teaching from Howard University. Delores began her career as an English teacher in Beaufort Public Schools. She later moved to Washington, DC where she continued her teaching career in DC Public Schools. She was recognized by several organizations for her outstanding service in education. After retiring, Delores served the public school system in many roles. She was dedicated to improving the reading and writing skills of at-risk children. Delores was a giving God fearing woman. She always wanted to make sure that those around her had everything that they needed. She was a blessing all of those around her. Prior to her illness, she was an active member of her church. She would love to go to church and hear her husband sing in the church choir. Delores was proceeded in death by her parents; two brothers Jimmy Robinson and Fred Robinson; and two sisters Rosa Carlos and Jean Dupree. Delores Robinson Dudley leaves to cherish in her memory: her husband of 51 years, George Dudley; a daughter Kristina (George) Dudley- McCane; three grandchildren Tyrese Neale, Kyra McCane, and Joseph McCane; two sisters Patricia (Frank) Jones and Bernice Robinson; a sister-in-law Mary (Leroy) Spells; two brothers-in-law’s W.H. (Liz) Dudley and M.H. (Joan) Dudley; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; a very special friend Ruth (Johnny) Lowe, and a host of other relatives and friends.
