Born August 4, 1939 in Camden, South Carolina to the late James Blakeney and Mattie Baskins. He was the seventh of 13 children, eight of whom preceded him in death. He departed this life February 6, 2017 at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.   Aaron grew up in Camden, where at a young age he accepted Christ and attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. He graduated from Jackson High School in Camden, South Carolina and attended South Carolina State in Orangeburg, where he was a member of the marching band.  After moving to Brooklyn, New York, he united with Bethel Baptist Church and was ordained as a Deacon lasting some 53 years. It was at Bethel where he met the love of his life, Veronica Eileen Dorsey; they were married December 22, 1963. After moving to Atlanta, Aaron was employed at Delta Airlines in 1971, and had a stellar career. He retired as Station Manager at the Augusta Regional Airport in 2001. Aaron faithfully was a Deacon at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Peace Lutheran Church, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and the Victory Church. At Victory, Aaron served well and wore many hats. He was a loving and caring person, who dedicated his life to God, his family, and his church. He was a man of integrity and a great friend! He leaves to rejoice in his memory, one son, Aaron Blakeney Jr., two daughters, Camay White (Darrell), Denetra Curry (Taveras); two sisters, Clara Scott, Brooklyn, NY, Mary Scott, Pemberton, NJ; 2 brothers, Paul Blakeney (Yvonne) Queens, NY, and John Blakeney, Brooklyn, NY.
